New Zealand Maori Taiaha Ex Bill Jamieson Ex Niagara Falls Museum Collection
This New Zealand Maori Taiaha is carved from a red to light chocolate brown color wood and is late 19th to early 20th Century in age. The piece measures 55 3/4" in length and has a beautifully carved head at the the pointed end. The shaft has a old screw repaired break in it about 15" from the tip of the face's tongue. This hard to find Polynesian weapon was formerly in the collection of the late Bill Jamieson and has the same type of inventory decal as the other items from his purchase in the late 1990s of the Niagara Falls Museum Collection.
