Solomon Islands Malaita Alafolo club
This Early to Mid 20th Century Solomon Island Alafolo club has the traditional flat topped curved noses on either side of the rounded paddle type head and is carved from a dense reddish brown wood. Under the pointy ended nose type fin on one side is a small area of minor loss along the edge of the tip. The club has a small lime inlaid design on either side of the sharp edged shaft toward an upside down triangular flared section. There are twin lime inlaid bands encircling the flared section toward the cylindrical bottom section. this Solomon club is just under 36" in length. The base of the club has some wear consistent with it being used as a cane or staff. The overall length is 33 1/2".
