West African Heavy Decorated Brass Staff
This tall and heavy West African Staff appears to be solid brass covered by a beautiful heavy patination from years of handling. The coiled crownlike top section still has a small fragment of red trade cloth caught in it. Possibly from a plume or ribbon type decoration. The overall length of this fine piece of metalwork is just over 50". The top flat section has chiseled decorations on both sides and the 3 1/2" long squared section that lies about a foot lower is chiseled on all four sides. The coiled section has some small scuffs but is intact.
