Zulu Wire Wrapped Prestige Staff
This wire wrapped prestige staff is most likely Zulu, but possibly Shona or Tsonga. The Staff is 33" in length and is finely woven around the head as well as the length of the shaft. There are four bands of plaited wire, similar to those found on a traditional Zulu club or Knobkerrie. The weaving is tight enough that it conforms to the curves and lumps of the wood underneath it.
The camera flash has brightened up the wire around the shaft which is darker than it appears in the photos due to reflection. An outstanding and rare specimen.
