Indonesian Lacquered Male Fetish or Talisman Ex-Armand Labbe Collection
Indonesian Lacquered male fetish charm or Talisman with patination and some encrustation from years of handling. The 3 1/2" tall figurine is dressed in a colonial style with one arm bent at the elbow, while the hand on the other arm curves forward to rest on the front of his hip. Both feet are pointed downward, and the face stares straight ahead. The rear and backs of the shoes have flattened areas where the lacquer pooled. This figure appears to be Thai or perhaps Burmese in origin.
Formerly in the collection of the late Armand Labbe, one time Head Curator of the Bowers Museum of Santa Ana, California.
